Robben Island Tour

Robben Island is situated 11km (seven miles) north of Cape Town harbour. It is the notorious island prison where thousands of political prisoners were incarcerated between 1961 and 1991 for campaigning against apartheid. Its most famous resident was Nelson Mandela.

Tickets are sold at R150 for adults and R75.00 for children of 4-17years.

Children under 4 come for free, but must be included in the booking.

The three and a half hour tour includes

  • Visit to the Maximum Security Prison
  • Interaction with an ex-political prisoner
  • 45 minute bus tour with a guide providing commentary
